Christmas 2010

Farolitos, paper bags with candles lit inside, are the tradition for Christmas decorations in New Mexico. Most people line the tops of their adobe homes and walls early in the month (usually electric versions called luminarias). On Christmas eve, neighborhood roads are lined with the real thing. A group of families on our road set them out for miles and we spent time at dusk relighting and tending the farolitos while locals drove along the road with no headlights to get the full effect. Here are pictures of our street and our house all lit up! (More pictures to come as we set up the tree, so check back.)
